Horner Park Art Show 1979

After expressing significant interest in art, my parents enrolled me in a art class at Horner Park in 1979.  As I would work on oil paintings, my instructor (Gail) would help me get the look I was striving for.  In the end the paintings look great, however the instructor deserved more credit than I did.
Even so, the experience has motivated me to continue pursuing my interests in drawing and painting.

        Painting in my studio 2009

I chose painting with acrylics on canvas as my primary medium and realism as my style.  This is the type of artwork that I am drawn to.  I continue to paint regularly, working on commisioned projects as well my own paintings that I sell at my art shows.

After graduating from Schaumburg High School in 1991, I attended Harper Community College where I earned an associates in art.  I had such a great experience at Harper, all of my instructors were exteremy helpful and the campus was so convenient and nice, I really enjoyed the time I spent there.  I continued my education at Northern Illinois University's art department.  I was so impressed by the work the illustration kids were doing, I had no choice but to pursue a degree in illustration.  This is where I developed my skills the most.  The professors there helped me learn new techniques as well what supplies and products to use.  I graduated from NIU with a BFA in illustration.
